It was intended to dismantle the ice water ammonia compressor unit at the premises of UAB Varėnos Pienelis in Basanavičiaus g. 52, in Varėna. Cold energy demand was expected to be produced by fully automated installations of the refrigerant compressor unit. Under the order of UAB Varėnos Pienelis, an application of the investment project “Modernisation of the ice water compressor unit to reduce environmental pollution” was drafted for obtaining the funding according to financing measures of investment projects for 2012 financed by the Lithuanian Environmental Investment Fund. Project benefits: ambient air pollution with ammonia decreases to 200 kg / year, resources (water, oil, electricity) are saved, dangerous ammonia is no longer used in the water cooling process, and its interaction with the air and the risk of explosion is avoided.
