After the assessment of the legal framework effective in Lithuania (on electricity, heat production and the terms and conditions of sale, and the possibilities for the incineration of municipal waste), scenarios for energy realisation of selected technological alternatives in question combusting municipal waste were formed (i.e. the heat produced would be sold under the market conditions, only the on-peak heat energy would be sold at competitive prices, heat energy would not be supplied to the district heating networks), based on which the cost price of produced energy was calculated (electricity and heat) by setting the cost of municipal waste incineration. Financial-economic analysis of the alternatives in question and sensitivity analysis of risk factors was conducted. Recommendations on the choice of the most appropriate alternative was presented in the conclusions.
